We provide both primary care and specialty care.
Specialists in internal medicine often serve as primary care physicians, and Dr. Verma has a thriving primary care practice. With more than 20 years’ experience diagnosing and treating the wide variety of medical conditions that affect adults, Dr. Verma enjoys following his patients over their lifetimes, and establishing long and rewarding personal relationships with them.
Due to the broad yet intensive nature of Dr. Verma’s internal medicine training, he is equipped to:
- Solve puzzling diagnostic problems.
- Treat severe chronic illnesses from simple to complex.
- Handle a broad spectrum of health issues from common to rare.
- Manage care when several different illnesses strike a patient at once.
Areas of Special Focus to Our Practice
With one of the largest diabetic patient populations of any Visalia physician, Dr. Verma has many patients who come to his practice because of his reputation for successfully treating Type 2 diabetes. His diabetic patient population has one of the lowest rates of A1C, with about 80% of patents maintaining hemoglobin levels of 6.2 to 6.4.
Added benefits to diabetic patients include Dr. Verma’s ability to perform a number of diagnostic tests during a regular office visit, including ankle-brachial index (ABI) testing to check for peripheral arterial disease and nerve conduction studies for diagnosing neuropathy.
Diabetic patients who enter our Weight Loss Management program significantly reduce – and in some cases eliminate – their need of insulin. Dr. Verma is the first physician in the Central Valley to provide Metabolic Testing, a key to successful weight loss.
High Blood Pressure/Hypertension
Dr. Verma has been treating hypertension for the last 30 years, and has been involved in a number of hypertension studies and clinical trials. Dr. Verma’s experience with this patient population – together with his diabetic patients – motivated him to become a certified diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
After participating in our Weight Loss Management program, many of Dr. Verma’s patients with dangerously high blood pressure see their levels drop to well within the normal range without medication.
IV and Injection Therapies and More
Patients with osteoporosis benefit from receiving their IV therapies in our office. Area endocrinologists and other local physicians often send their patients to undergo intravenous treatment at Dr. Verma’s medical practice.
Dr. Verma also provides joint injections under ultrasound guidance to treat arthritis pain in the shoulder, hips and knees.
Patients with asthma and other chronic lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) benefit from onsite pulmonary function testing (PFT) to evaluate the severity of their condition and inform Dr. Verma’s plan of care.
Certified Medical Examiner (CME) and Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME)
Dr. Verma is approved by the Division of Workers’ Compensation – Medical Unit to examine injured workers to evaluate disability and write medical-legal reports.
